Quality Policy
3D DRAWINGS
Working closely with the shipyard’s existing 3D drawings we work at scale to ensure all our models are true-to-life replicas of the full-sized vessels. Components are created using CNC Milling, 3D printers, laser cutters, and metal etches. By utilising an array of in-house equipment, we are fully in control of output quality and any component not meeting our strict quality policy is redrawn and/or remade.
3D PRINTERS
We have a comprehensive fleet of in-house 3D printers, capable of printing in different sizes and formats – SLA, SLS, and FDM printing techniques enable us to meet a range of requirements. For exhibition models that require durability, we use a CNC milling machine to create the main yacht form.
CLEANING & PAINTING
The 3D-printed parts are washed, cured, sanded, and primed, ready for painting. Colours are matched to the real vessel utilising RAL or BS Colour specifications, or we replicate materials using a range of photo-realistic printing and painting techniques.
METAL ETCHES
Some of the finer details are created using metal etches in brass or stainless steel. These include railings, stairs, furniture, and masts. Drawn in 2D, these components are carefully folded and painted to create the 3D item. Utilising etches creates a more durable model at a small scale.
ADDITIONAL EXTRAS
For some models interactivity is key. From adding turning propellers to a lit base or even opening doors revealing inner interiors or features, we create every model to order, exactly to the requirements of the client. The range of additional features we can include is vast and any idea, however ambitious, can be discussed with our expert team throughout the project.
FINISHING TOUCHES
Once fully assembled a final check is done against the plans and photos or renders. A final thorough clean, and the name plaque and Perspex dust cover are fitted.
Final photos of each model are sent to the client for approval before packing.
PACKAGING & GREEN POLICY
Our models are packed in cardboard packing pallets, as standard. As part of our green commitment, we have opted for more sustainable packing materials, such as biodegradable air pockets and cardboard packaging.
For long-distance shipping, we also offer an upgrade to wooden shipping crates for increased protection. For models that will be travelling frequently, we recommend an optional upgrade to a bespoke wheeled flight case that keep models safe and secure while in transit.
WORLDWIDE EXPORTS
Our models are created for clients all around the world. We deliver models worldwide to offices, yachts and exhibitions. As such, we can organise export documents and transport logistics to any destination.
